Gregory S Bishop, one of the three ex-Goodwin partners, will be partner in charge of the new office. A second Goodwin partner, Thomas F Fitzpatrick, will become co-chair of the national IP litigation practice, along with existing incumbents Paul J Kennedy (from Philadelphia) and Goutam Patnaik (from Washington). The third Goodwin partner is Andy H Chan, a specialist on patent litigation involving complicated technology.
Strategically important
The firm's chief executive officer Scott Green said: 'While Pepper Hamilton has long had a presence in Southern California, the northern part of the state is strategically important as it is where many of our clients are based.'
