Shell has revamped its legal team in the UK with Sarah Morton taking over from Michael Coates, UK head of legal. Ms Morton, who has been at the company for six years, was previously managing counsel for global litigation for Europe, Middle East & North Africa. She is also associate GC for Shell’s downstream northwest Europe business. Mr Coates moves to become associate general counsel for Shell’s global upstream business. He joined Shell in 2004 from law firm Slaughter and May. Ms Morton was previously a lawyer at US firm Debevoise & Plimpton specialising in international commercial litigation and arbitration and earlier at Norton Rose.
