UK law firm Eversheds is reported to be considering giving stakes in the firm to all non-partner legal and support staff. Such a move could see staff being able to buy shares or receive them for good performance. It is a bold move should it happen and one which would help move barriers between partners and their subordinates in law firms. The great legal public have, however, overwhelmingly rejected taking similar steps in their law firms. Our survey reveals that most partners in law firms would never consider offering equity to non-qualified staff.
