US employment law software platform SixFifty has launched an agentic HR compliance tool to help companies access employment law information.

The company – which was previously owned by US firm Wilson Sonsini – says the tool enables legal and HR compliance teams to follow employment laws, while also completing admin-related tasks.

The AI agent drafts and updates employee handbooks and workplace policies alongside employment contracts. For example, if a company hires someone in another US state, the AI tool – which SixFifty refers to as a HR compliance specialist – can identify relevant requirements and help file necessary state paperwork. It says the tool is the first-ever agentic HR compliance specialist in the human capital management industry.

Over the past year, Salt Lake City-based SixFifty’s employment compliance team has monitored more than 440 changes to employment laws across nearly 130 federal, state and local jurisdictions.

Kimball Parker, founder and CEO of SixFifty, said: “Employment law has become too complex and changes too quickly for small and mid-sized businesses to manage manually.

“We started SixFifty with a simple belief: the law should be accessible to all. With our agentic HR specialist, we’re taking that idea one step further to provide business leaders with trusted employment law guidance and the tools to act on it.”

Chris Walker, VP of human resources at Sportsman’s Warehouse, commented that SixFifty is a “go to” for proactive monitoring and compliance, giving his company an end-to-end resource to draft and maintain a wide range of policies and procedures.

He added: “It is often our one-stop-shop for getting tailored perspective on specific situations. It’s great at breaking them down, providing solid, practical suggestions, and getting us a solid head start on issues we can resolve internally or take to counsel.

“It’s helped us be more prepared, efficient and effective in our use of outside counsel, cutting down on unnecessary legal spend.”

Founded seven years ago, SixFifty is mainly focused on US employment law, and helps businesses manage employment law and HR paperwork using technology and AI, ensuring the companies have the right employment documents. Wilson Sonsini sold the business in July last year to its current owner, payroll and HR software business Paychex.

There has been a wave of new legaltech product launches in recent months. In September, Lewis Silkin introduced an AI platform aimed at the creative industries to help creators, talent managers, agencies and brands manage commercial deals.

Also in September, former Latham & Watkins lawyer Nic Vetta launched eponymous AI-native law firm Vetta, designed to facilitate commercial contracts and create a legal bridge between private capital and investment-backed firms.
