The Global Legal Post today launches the inaugural edition of its White-Collar Crime comparative guide.
Edited by Robert Wyld, a partner at Australian law firm Johnson Winter Slattery, the guide brings together leading practitioners from around the world to examine how jurisdictions investigate, prosecute and combat bribery, corruption, fraud and other corporate white-collar crime offences.
It provides practical, jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction guidance on areas including domestic laws and enforcement agencies, corporate and individual liability, internal investigations, whistleblower protections, self-reporting and emerging reforms.
In his introduction, Wyld highlights the challenges regulators face in attributing the conduct of individuals to corporate entities and the different approaches jurisdictions have adopted to tackle corporate misconduct.
He also points to the importance of protecting those who expose wrongdoing: “The stronger legal protections afforded to both public and private sector whistleblowers are, the stronger a country will be in its own sense of integrity.”His reform “wish list” calls for “real and meaningful protections for whistleblowers".

Chapters are arranged in a Q&A format, making it easy for readers to compare how different jurisdictions address the same issues. The online version allows users to select questions across jurisdictions to further facilitate comparative analysis.
There is also a series of market insight chapters that focus on emerging trends in white-collar crime and enforcement.

The book’s authors will assemble to celebrate the guide’s launch at an invitation-only roundtable on 6 October at the Copenhagen office of contributor firm Gorrissen Federspiel, timed to coincide with the IBA’s Annual Conference.
The White-Collar Crime comparative guide is one of 19 titles in the Law Over Borders series, which also covers topics including arbitration, artificial intelligence, cryptoassets, data protection, ESG and restructuring and insolvency.
