White House lawyers slow to hand over Blair letter

Lawyers in the White House are said to be taking their time in sifting through correspondence related to the 2003 Iraq invasion even though they have been asked to deliver them to the UK's inquiry on the conflict.

A letter from the then UK prime minister, Tony Blair, is said to be ‘critical’ to the UK inquiry which is being conducted by Sir John Chilcott. The letter is said to begin: ‘You know, George, whatever you decide to do, I'm with you.’  But a source involved in efforts to get the correspondence now has said: ‘The lawyers are taking months to evaluate the letters and decide whether to release them….However, they claim not to have been able to locate the ‘with you whatever’ letter.’ Source: Belfast Telegraph
