Women account for 6 out of 10 younger Scottish lawyers

The legal profession is becoming more female in some countries, with women making up 61% of Scottish lawyers under the age of 45.

Overall, however, the numbers are still fairly equal - with men accounting for 51% of the profession across all age bands. Figures released from the Law Society of Scotland show that the number of practising solicitors in Scotland is at an ‘all-time high’. There is one practitioner for every 500 people in the population.
