JC Penney has promoted Brandy Treadway to the role of general counsel.Ms Treadway, who has worked at the company since 2011, was interim general counsel following the departure of Janet Link to Stanley Black & Decker. She previously worked at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in its London and Dallas offices. 

M&T Bank Corp has appointed Laura O'Hara as senior vice president and general counsel. Ms O'Hara most recently work for Santander Bank where she was executive vice president and general counsel from 2015 to 2017. At Santander she was responsible for legal support for all lines of business, as well as risk management, compliance, regulatory and human resources. She has more than 30 years of litigation, regulatory compliance and risk management experience and will be based in Buffalo, New York.

Former Channel 4 general counsel Prash Naik has been appointed by Reviewed & Cleared which is backed by UK media and technology law firm Wiggin. He joined Channel 4 in 1994 and became general counsel in 2014.  Amali de Silva has replaced him as Channel 4 where she is new controller of legal and compliance. Prior to her appointment, she was a consultant at Wiggin which she joined in 2005 and earlier at Olswang, now part of CMS Cameron McKenna

Insurance company OneAmerica senior deputy general counsel Richard Ellery has been promoted to general counsel and senior vice president. Mr Ellery became a legal associate at the insurance company 20 years ago. He will replace general counsel Thomas Zurek who has announced his plans to retire in 2019. Mr Ellery will report to Mr Zurek until his departure. Mr Zurek, who took up in role in 2002, is a member of the executive council, an ex officio member of the board of directors and secretary for all board and corporate functions. Prior to that, he was general counsel for American General Life.

Array BioPharma, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialisation of targeted small molecule drugs to treat patients afflicted with cancer, has appointed Curtis Oltmans as general counsel. Mr Oltmans joins from healthcare company Novo Nordisk and succeeds John Moore, who has announced his retirement as vice president and general counsel. Prior to Novo Nordisk, Mr Oltmans, who is a 25 year veteran of the biopharmaceutical industry, spent 13 years at Eli Lilly in a variety of legal roles, including litigation, FDA regulatory and international law.
