MetLife general counsel Ricardo Anzaldua is leaving his job at the end of June. He will continue to advise CEO Steve Kandarian untl the end of the year. He was best known for winning litigation which changed the government's defination of the company as too big to fail. Stephen Gauster, who is senior vice president and chief counsel, will become interim general counsel while the company hunts for a replacement.
Sun Basket, a fast-growing healthy, organic meal kit service, has appointed Isobel Jones as general counsel. Ms Jones has previously served as general counsel and company secretary of Diamond Foods, a publicly traded snack food and culinary nut company from October 2014 to February 2016, when Diamond Foods was acquired by Snyder's-Lance. Previously Ms Jones served as the general counsel and company secretary of Annie's, a natural and organic food company now owned by General Mills, general counsel at Peet's Coffee & Tea and associate general counsel at Del Monte Foods.
Global science and technology company Leidos has appointed Jerald Howe executive vice president and general counsel following the retirement of Vincent Maffeo. Mr Howe brings more than 30 years of leadership experience at global organisations in the aerospace, defense, and intelligence industries. Most recently, he served as a partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson where he advised and represented clients in government contracts litigation, investigations and bid protests, as well as mergers & acquisitions and private equity transactions in the aerospace & defense industry. Prior to that, he served as general counsel at TASC, where he oversaw the company's legal affairs, corporate development and M&A, ethics and compliance programs, government relations and security. Previously, he was owner and principal of consulting firm InSequitur, executive vice president of the Olive Group, and general counsel of Veridian Corporation. Howe began his career as an associate and partner at Steptoe & Johnson.
General counsel Vincent Maffeo is retiring from Leidos on 15 July. He was instrumental in providing guidance and legal expertise through the company's evolution, most notably the separation of then-Science Applications International Corporation and the recent merger with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions business in 2016. He will continue to support the company as a consultant.
