The UK independent global asset manager GAM has hired Rachel Wheeler as its group general counsel. She will join GAM later this year and become a member of the Group Management Board, pending customary regulatory approval. Ms Wheeler has been the general counsel at Aviva Investors since 2014. Prior to joining Aviva, she worked in different senior positions and started her career as a solicitor in corporate and financial services law at Simmons & Simmons. Group CEO Alexander Friedman said: 'Rachel is a leading asset management general counsel and brings to GAM over 20 years of relevant experience. I greatly look forward to welcoming her to the team.'

Eve Saltman is the new general counsel at technology company GoPro. Ms Saltman has been named vice president, corporate/business development and general counsel, effective March 29.  She will oversee all legal affairs at GoPro in addition to business and corporate development matters, and also serve as corporate secretary of the company. Ms Saltman was the VP, deputy general counsel, and assistant corporate secretary at GoPro and helped the company to go public in 2014. She left the company in September 2017. After serving for a short period as general counsel at software company Asana, she has returned. GoPro CEO and founder Nicholas Woodman said: 'It's incredibly gratifying to see one of our star performers return to the family.'  Prior to GoPro, Ms Saltman held in-house positions at Asana, Autodesk, Siebel Systems, LiveOps, and OnLive, and  started her career atl law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.

Former Viacom GC Mike Fricklas joins Advance Publications. Mr Fricklas, who left Viacom last year, will lead legal and governmental affairs as chief legal officer for Advance, a New York-based company that operates and invests in a broad range of media. Mr Fricklas started at Viacom 25 years ago with a mission similar to his new Advance role, namely to help execute a string of major M&A deals.

DXC's Jim Gallagher has been named general counsel of Perspecta, a new IT Services Company. Perspecta is being formed from the merger of Vencore Holding Corp. and KeyPoint Government Solutions with DXC Technology’s US public sector business unit. The merger is expected to close next month.
