Deutsche Bank announced last week that it has secured Citigroup's Pamela Root to become its own new global head of compliance and group chief compliance officer. Ms Root joins Deutsche Bank after seven years with Citigroup, where she most recently served as chief compliance officer for the Global Institutional Clients Group. Previously, Ms Root held various positions over a 13-year career at Goldman Sachs, including general counsel to global compliance. Before coming in-house in 1986, Ms Root practiced securities, banking and corporate law with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York.

Meanwhile, Florida-base marine services business SEACOR Holdings has recruited William Long as its new executive vice president, chief legal officer and company secretary, effective immediately. Mr Long brings with him wealth of experience with marine services and transportation companies working in the oil and gas sphere, including his most recent stint as SVP, general counsel and secretary for GulfMark Offshore and an earlier 17-year tenure at Diamond Offshore Drilling, where he also served as GC.

Another Florida player, SUNZ Insurance has picked up Russell Whittle as its new general counsel. Mr Whittle carries more than 20 years experience working in workers' compensation, serving as defence counsel for employers and carriers and providing legal guidance with regards to Medicare Set-Asides and Mandatory Insurer Reporting compliance. At SUNZ he will oversee corporate governance as it relates to contracts, regulatory compliance and general corporate matters.

Aerospace component manufacturer NORDAM general counsel Al Givray has announced Terrell Siegfried as assistant general counsel. Mr Siegfried began his career as the chief of staff and executive assistance to former NORDAM chairman and founder Ray Siegfried before attending law school at Notre Dame and returning to company as senior legal counsel in 2012.

Finally, insurance marketing group Partners Advantage had picked up Patrick Amaya as its new general counsel from Pacific Life Insurance Company. As well as directing the company's compliance and suitability office, Mr Amaya will be tasked with designing and delivering compliance educational programs for Partners Advantage's employees and distribution network. Merrill Lynch, MetLife and WAMU Investments are also counted on Mr Amaya's list of former employers.
