Boies Schiller partner Linda Burrow has moved in-house to Netflix, joining the media company as director of content litigation. A Hollywood veteran, Ms Burrow will be based at the headquarters of the internet movie pioneer in Los Gatos, California. She had been a year and a half at Boies Schiller Flexner as partner.

Another big Hollywood name is 21st Century Fox, where board member Viet Dinh is stepping down to become chief legal and policy officer with Fox, the provisional name for the company that will consist of entertainment and news assets such as Fox News, Fox Sports and the Fox broadcast network which are not being acquired in the big Walt Disney deal. In addition to oversight of its legal affairs, Mr Dinh will direct the new Fox’s government and public affairs operations. He was most recently a partner at law firm Kirkland & Ellis, Dinh, and will take on many of the roles previously held by 21st Century Fox general counsel Gerson Zweifach, who will depart when the sale of assets to Disney is completed. Mr Dinh’s board seat will not be filled.

KFC legal chief Sarah Nelson-Smith has exited to join collaborative workspace company WeWork as its first ever European general counsel. Ms Nelson-Smith has a private practice background with Freshfields and US law firm Baker Botts, as well in-house roles at Taco Bell and Pizza Hut owner Yum! Brands. During Nelson-Smith’s time at KFC the fast food company came under the spotlight in the BBC One documentary The Billion Dollar Chicken Shop, and at the beginning of the year she oversaw KFC’s first European panel review.

Specialty pharmaceutical company Aquestive Therapeutics has appointed Lori Braender as general counsel. Ms Braender was previously with Day Pitney, and has joined as senior vice president and general counsel following a 35-year career at the law firm. In that role, she specialised in advising clients in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device companies, hospitals and healthcare institutions on regulatory requirements, contractual arrangements and other business considerations connected with life science and healthcare transactions.

The UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has lost its general counsel to law firm Kingsley Napley. Alun Milford has joined the firm, just under a month after Lisa Osofsky took over as the new director of the agency.
