Michael O'Sullivan has been appointed general counsel of Snap. Mr O'Sullivan joins from law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson. He has previously represented Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and has been involved in corporate and securities law in private practice. He replaces ex-general counsel Chris Handman who notified employees last week that he was leaving for family reasons. Robyn Thomas, former VP of HR and Legal, has also departed from Snap.
New York investment management company Fred Alger Management has appointed Tina Payne as senior vice president and general counsel. Ms Payne will oversee the legal and compliance departments at Alger. Ms Payne, who has 16 years of experience working with investment companies, comes to Alger from Cohen & Steers Capital Management, where she served as associate general counsel. Ms Payne previously held positions at PFPC Worldwide (a former division of PNC Bank) and Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young, where she began her legal career.
Former Snapdeal general counsel Ashish Chandra has been appointed to Malaysian company Astro Malaysia Holdings as vice president and general counsel. Mr Chandra, who left Snapdeal after a deal between the company and Flipkart was signed (now not going ahead), will provide legal, strategic and regulatory leadership to the company which aims to be a leader in digital media in ASEAN countries. He will be based in Kuala Lumpur.
The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the IAB Technology Laboratory have hired former Lowenstein Sandler partner Michael Hahn to serve as both trade associations’ new senior vice president and general counsel. Mr Hahn will handle legal matters for the trade groups, including antitrust compliance, intellectual property rights, and general corporate and contractual matters. He will also be responsible for serving as an advocate for the digital advertising industry on legal matters affecting members of IAB and IAB Tech Lab. He was previously vice chair of the antitrust practice group at law firm Lowenstein Sandler. Mr Hahn is currently co-chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Antitrust Law Committee.
Spaceport America, the world's first purpose-built commercial spaceport located in southern New Mexico in the USA, has appointed Melissa Kemper Force as its new Spaceport America general counsel.Prior to her appointment as general counsel by the New Mexico Spaceport Authority, Ms Force was the principal partner of a consulting firm in California where she provided legal advice on international policy and legal issues to clients in the commercial aerospace industry. After obtaining her advanced degree in space law, Ms Force worked in the Office of Space Commerce in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), assisting in the development of the commercial space transportation policy. She was associate general counsel heading international and domestic claims for HOK, and a partner in the Los Angeles office of Carroll, Burdick & McDonough litigating products liability, environmental and construction defect disputes.
