About 12 per cent of managing partners are aged between 65 and 85, and only 3 per cent are between 32 and 50. According to Dealbook, which has reported on the statistics: 'a generational divide is percolating just under the surface [in law firms]. Rising associates in the millennial generation, worried about the future, are pushing up against the current law firm leaders, who are almost uniformly older men intent on staying for a few more years to top off very successful careers.'
