Partner Ian Cochrane was called by the prosecution and questioned over evidence he gave to the defendant, businessman Ron Sayers, in 2001 on a company tax scheme. Mr Sayers - defended by Clifford Chance litigation partner Ben Luscombe - is charged with two others of conspiracy to cause a loss to the Commonwealth. Mr Cochrane, who has advised Mr Sayers for 20 years, was asked about the structure of the scheme. 'I was not entirely comfortable with them,' he told the court, adding that he said they used aggressive structures, according to Yahoo!.
Sandelson re-elected
Meanwhile, London-based Jeremy Sandelson, head of Clifford Chance's litigation practice worldwide for the last four years, has been re-elected for another four years.
