According to the Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker LDO Index, 52 per cent of legal departments had experienced an increase in work during the last six months. Nearly half of the responding legal departments said they spent more on external counsel while only 28 per cent had expanded their legal departments to cope with the extra work. The survey also found that 51 per cent of companies now have full-time legal operators. Meanwhile 18 per cent said they are spending more on legal technology - but 12 per cent had actually reduced tech spending.The report surveyed 1000 legal departments.
