Covington & Burling has picked up another 18 lawyers from Chadbourne & Parke as the latter prepares to join forces with Norton Rose Fulbright. Chadbourne, which is also facing a $100 million gender discrimination case, is expected to complete its merger by mid-year. The departures follow on from the earlier loss of a four partner project finance team to Covington's new Dubai and Johannesburg offices and include a number of  project finance lawyers. Among those to have joined Covington recently are former Chadbourne international partners Ursula Owczarkowski and Julie Scotto in London, Derek Kirton and Haykel Hajjaji in Dubai and Lido Fontana and Deon Govender in Johannesburg. Ms Owczarkowski takes up the position as vice-chair of Covington's international project finance practice.
