Global law firm Dentons has named 10 new partners in its UK, Ireland and Middle East partner promotions round, a slight decrease from 2024.

This year’s cohort was two fewer than last year and three fewer than in 2023, though it was higher than in 2022 when nine made the grade. Although the firm did not issue a diversity breakdown of this year’s promotions, six of the new partners are women. The promotions will take effect from May.

Finance led the way with three promotions, two in dispute resolution, one each in real estate and projects, and one in TMT. London had four promotions, with Milton Keynes accounting for two, and one promotion each in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Outside the UK, Dubai registered two promotions.

The 2025 partner round is the first since Kate Barton succeeded Elliott Portnoy as global chief executive in November, following Portnoy’s decade-long tenure in the role.

Paul Jarvis, Dentons’ regional CEO, said: “These promotions reflect the breadth of homegrown talent within Dentons and the hard work and ambition of the individuals joining the partnership this year.”

He concluded: “I look forward to welcoming the fresh ideas and insights they will bring, including driving connectivity across practices, sectors and geographies so that we can support clients on their most complex global matters.”

One of Jarvis’s recent initiatives was introducing a shadow leadership team to nurture the next generation of leaders, with this year’s partnership round being the beneficiary.

The promotions follow the recruitment of 12 new lateral hire partners in 2024, including the arrival of high-yield specialist Colin Chang from Linklaters, with six more lateral hire partners joining so far this year.

The firm’s US arm of the verein promoted 34 to partner or partner-equivalent in March, while four partners entered senior equity at Dentons Rodyk in Singapore in January, along with 12 juniors.

However, the firm has also experienced exits, with Reed Smith hiring real estate partner Camille Bacon-Schulte in February to establish its new Denver office. Additionally, the firm’s Polish office moved to Clyde & Co in 2023, which also announced its 2025 partnership round today. It promoted 25 new partners, an increase from 19 in 2024.
