The Sacramento-based practice says that the 17 layoffs are an adjustment to the exits of 23 lawyers who have left or are about to leave. Managing partner Scot Shapiro said that the 17 ‘includes no lawyers because we remain very busy with legal work’. He says: ‘We did this very difficult cut because we have more staff than we need due to attorney departures.’ The firm has 99 lawyers listed in its directory, down from 120 in June 2013. Source: ABA
