Energy lawyers ready for boom in employment disputes

According to Baker & McKenzie and other law firms, oil and gas companies could be particularly prone to litigation - especially as a result of layoffs - as the sector goes through a downturn.

Brendan Cook of Baker & McKenzie in Houston says that litigation has already increased after rigs have been shut down, investments cut back and projects cancelled. He said: ‘When people are squeezed and they can't work it out at the bargaining table, they can't work it out in the boardroom, you go to the courtroom.’
