Charles Bennett, a corporate lawyer who used to work at Skadden Arps, wrote a 16-page suicide note in which he said: 'I have systematically over the course of five years or so perpetrated a huge Ponzi scheme... I managed to completely squander the hard earned money that my family and dear friends managed to set aside over the course of their working lives.'

But when he jumped into the Hudson River in order to drown himself he was rescued by police divers. After the suicide note came to light he was charged with fraud. He used to work at Skadden Arps with Slida Wall Spitzer, the ex-wife of former New York governon Eliot Spitzer. One of  his marketing ruses was to say - falsely - that Mr Spitzer had invested with him. He also faces a charge in relation to that statement. Slida Wall Spitzer said: 'We worked together at Skadden Arps. This is astonishing and heartbreaking on all counts.' Source: Daily Mail
