As Bryan Cave and BLP move towards a partner vote on their proposed merger, two more US law firms have joined the merger trail. Foley & Lardner and Gardere Wynne Sewell are in talks about a tie-up which would have a combined revenue of around $820 million and over 1000 lawyers. Milwaukee headquartered firm Foley has previously been in talks with UK law firm Eversheds and New York based Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman whilst Texan law firm Gardere recently acquired disputes boutique Bufete Hernández Romo in Mexico City.
US/UK mergers
US/UK mergers are also on the increase. National law firm Bond Dickinson has completed its merger with a US-based law firm Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice to form Womble Bond Dickinson. The new firm will have more than 1000 lawyers in 24 offices with annual revenues of £340m. Meanwhile talks between Bryan Cave and Berwin Leighton Paisner are reportedly progressing well with plans to tie the knot on 1 January.
