'Backdrop of macro-economic uncertainty'
Gideon Moore, Linklaters’ firmwide managing partner, said: ‘The firm has performed well again this year, against a backdrop of global macro-economic uncertainty, achieving a 1.7 per cent increase in income at constant currency. Our performance has been driven by the efforts of our people, our deep client relationships and our sector focus.’
'Good performance'
Mr Moore added: ‘We’ve seen good performance across all our practice areas and geographies but I’m particularly pleased by the growth internationally, particularly in the US and South East Asia as well as in TMT and financial sponsors. As well as playing leading roles in some of the landmark deals of 2016-17 including the AB InBev – SABMiller acquisition and Softbank’s $100 billion fundraising, we have also demonstrated our ability to successfully develop innovative client offerings such as our new Crisis Management practice...And beyond our work for clients, we have continued to be involved in a range of inspiring pro-bono and community projects including a successful death penalty appeal in Texas and a landmark whistleblower case in the UK.’
'Stronger sense of purpose'
However, Mr Moore has promised that the next financial year will see accelerated growth at the company. ‘The next financial year will see us rolling out the global implementation of our Firmwide Strategy Refresh: doubling down on our investment in clients, our people and technology. The result will see the firm imbued with a stronger sense of purpose and collaboration focused on acting for clients as a united, global team.’
