Addleshaw is ranked 23rd in the UK, 20 places behind the Magic Circle firm. Addleshaw's earnings were £171m - just 13% of the £1,255m earnt by Linklaters, in the latest data recorded by Wikipedia. The work commissioned to Addleshaws is exactly the kind of project that the top firms want - complicated, cross-border, multi-disciplinary work. It involves restructuring and the sale of some assets in Europe.
Food sector strength
In an interview with The Lawyer, general counsel Robert Gibber said that the work would 'play to Addleshaws’ strengths' and pointed to the sector strength of the law firm in the agricultural and food area. Addleshaws has a top-rated client list in the food area including Associated British Foods, B&Q, Britvic, Diageo, Hobbs, Mars, PZ Cussons, Primark, and Sainsbury's.
