MinterEllison posts solid growth figures for FY16

The Australian-headquartered multinational firm has recorded meatier revenue and a record number of senior promotions in the last financial year.

According to the MinterEllison’s Annual Report, turnover grew 6.54 per cent from A$428m to A$456m in the most recent financial year as the firm progresses towards implementing its 2020 strategy. MinterEllison is working to broaden its offering to clients ‘beyond the law’ and into a range of non-traditional legal service solutions, an endeavor underpinned by the firm’s self-professed appetite for innovation. Chief executive Tony Harrington explains: ‘Put simply, we’re thinking beyond the law… It’s about creating a context and framework where innovation can happen. I have no doubt that the firm that partners with its clients to truly innovate and deliver value with distinctively lead the market,’ he said.

Record promotions year

Also among MinterEllison’s milestones this year was a record number of new senior promotions. The firm made up 23 new partners, 40 special counsel and 61 senior associates this year, marking its biggest promotion pool in over 20 years. The firm’s total partner headcount now sits at 202, up from 196 in FY15, while its total lawyer headcount has lifted from 917 to 980. With offices in every Australian capital city as well as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Auckland and Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, MinterEllison has been recognised as one of the top ten firms in the Asia Pacific as part of the Acritas Asia Pacific Law Brand Index 2016.
