Sony steps up legal threat against the media

David Boies, chairman of Boies, Schiller & Flexner, has written to the New York Times and other titles to warn them that they could face legal action from Sony unless they destroy the information which hackers have made public about the organisation.

The well-known lawyer is quoted by the Hollywood Reporter as saying: 'If you do not comply with this request and the Stolen Information [hacked documents and information] is used or disseminated by you in any manner, SPE [Sony Pictures Entertainment] will have no choice but to hold you responsible for any damage or loss arising from such use or dissemination by you.' It appears that the letters were sent out after private, informal discussions took place between Sony and the media but which did not result in the media staying silent. Source: Financial Times
