Swedish domestic appliance-maker Electrolux Group has lined up Anna Almén as its next general counsel, replacing Ulrika Elfving in the role.
Almén is joining from Scandinavian airline SAS, where she is chief legal officer. As head of group legal at Electrolux, she will bring more than 20 years of experience working across complex, regulated and international environments. Her expertise spans asset and capital financing, corporate law, commercial contracts and managing governance in large organisations. She is due to join “toward the end of summer in Europe” and will report directly to the group’s CEO Yannick Fierling.
Stockholm-based Electrolux Group makes refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, cookers and other home appliances.
Fierling said: “The legal dimension of our business environment has become much more complex over recent years. Anna’s expertise will help strengthen Electrolux Group and play a pivotal role in shaping our future. I’m pleased to welcome her to the group and group management.”
Almén arrives after 25 years at SAS, the past two of them as CLO. She was previously GC and head of its Swedish legal department, among other roles. Prior to joining SAS in 2001, she was an associate at Lindh Stabell Horten.
She said: “In today’s business environment, strong legal leadership is about sound judgement, partnership and the ability to navigate complexity while maintaining momentum, and I am looking forward to contributing that approach at Electrolux Group and working closely with the leadership team.”
Elfving, meanwhile, leaves after 16 years at Electrolux, the past four of them as GC. She was previously a senior associate at local firm Gernandt & Danielsson.
She is due to join Swedish investment firm Investor AB – which owns Electrolux – as GC during the second quarter of this year.
Speaking on her appointment to Investor, which was announced last December, she said: “This is a truly challenging and exciting role, and I am very much looking forward to joining. Legal aspects are an integral part of being an active owner and I hope that I can partake in developing Investor for the future.”
In other recent Swedish in-house legal moves, back in June, music streaming platform Spotify appointed interim GC Kevan Choset as its new legal head, while last April, Swedish engineering firm Sandvik hired Johanna Kreft as GC from Alleima.
