Law Society figures showed encouraging growth at four of the country’s top five firms, although the remainder of the top 20 firms saw a mixed bag in terms of hiring.
The Irish Times reports that Arthur Cox and Matheson both employed 228 solicitors, making them the largest firms by numbers. New hires mean Matheson increased its solicitor numbers by 9.6 per cent over the year, while Arthur Cox grew by 10.6 per cent.

However the biggest leap was taken by A&L Goodbody, which hired 29 new solicitors to bring its total to 212, representing growth of almost 16 per cent.
A&L Goodbody managing partner Julian Yarr said a major chunk of the growth could be tied to investment in the international market, which represented more than 60 per cent of the firm’s overall revenue.
