Universities 'should reduce intake of law students'

Nearly three quarters of respondents to a Lawyers Weekly poll in Australia believe that universities should 'reduce their intake of law students until the graduate market improves'.

With 71 per cent believing that intakes should be reduced,  only 17 per cent  polled  said 'No, plenty of law students use their degree to gain employment outside the law'. The survey also saw eight per cent saying that universities should not be constrained by changing market conditions whilst  four per cent responded  'maybe slightly, as only top-tier firms are reducing grad positions'. In the US, many law schools have reduced their intake this year.
