US city pays out over firing of two lawyers

New Haven in Connecticut has paid $109,000 to two lawyers who ued to work for the city corporation and who claim to have been sacked for trying to set up a trade union for lawyers.

New Haven - Home to Yale

Felipe Pastore Briseno was given a settlement of $70,000 and James Del Visco was given $39,000. Separation and release agreements were signed with both of them.

Denial

The city denies all allegations made against it that the pair were fired for organising a trade union. The initial complaint by the labor board said that the city had 'dominated or interfered with the formation, existence or administration' of a union. Source: 03 Springfield
