The survey revealed that average total cash compensation was $2.1 million, up by three per cent with the average base salary at $699,500, down by 1.1 per cent. Corporate Counsel Magazine's report also revealed that Denise Keane, who retired as general counsel of tobacco company Altria Group on June 30, received more than $9 million in total cash, including base salary and bonus, in 2016. She was the first woman to make the top slot for pay with only one other woman in the top 10.
