US government services business Maximus has promoted Elizabeth Moellering to the general counsel role on a permanent basis, having been serving as interim GC since February after the departure of previous legal head John Martinez.
Moellering brings almost two decades of legal experience to her new role, where she will be responsible for overseeing all legal, contracts, privacy and compliance matters for the company.
Tysons, Virginia-based Maximus works with government agencies to improve service delivery through tech and business process management support.

Moellering originally joined the company in 2024 as head of litigation, before being promoted to deputy GC in February when she was named interim GC. Prior to her arrival, she was senior associate GC at healthcare business Optum, having previously spent almost seven years as an assistant US attorney.
She started her career in private practice at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

Martinez, meanwhile, exited the company in February just two-and-a-half years since joining from GE Aerospace, where he was GC. He is now chief legal officer at defence and intelligence-focused engineering business Parsons Corporation.
