Offshore legal and financial services law firm Walkers has elevated 20 lawyers to partner in a bumper promotions round that also saw 15 elevated to senior counsel.
The firm said the record-breaking 58-strong promotions round – which also included 14 non-lawyers in its corporate and fiduciary services units, among other promotions – was a bold signal of its long-term growth strategy.
Six partners were promoted in the Cayman Islands alongside 10 in Europe: four in Jersey, three in Guernsey, two in Dublin and one in London. Two partners were promoted in Hong Kong, one in Singapore and one in Dubai. Half of the partner promotions were women, compared to two in a five-strong round last year.
The firm’s investment funds team was the greatest beneficiary, with nine new partners and four senior counsels across the Cayman Islands, Dubai, Dublin, Hong Kong, Jersey and Singapore.
The firm’s regulatory and risk advisory practice promoted four new partners and one senior counsel across Europe and the Americas. There were two promotions in corporate, two in finance, three in insolvency and disputes, and one in tax and private client.
The firm also made nine further senior promotions in its business services teams, based in Dublin, with additional promotions in the BVI, Cayman Islands, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Ingrid Pierce, the firm’s global managing partner, said: “Our clients rely on us for high-quality, commercially minded advice – and that starts with investing in our people. By supporting career progression from within, we strengthen our culture, enhance our client relationships and foster long-term growth.”
It has also made a series of lateral hires, with investment funds partner Simon Hopwood joining the firm’s Jersey office in June from Maples, while Dermot Casserly joined the firm in Dublin from DWF in February as head of employment.
Non-lawyer Tui Iti also joined the firm as chief compliance officer in Dubai, moving from Ogier in January, following a year in which the firm added eight lateral partners.
The firm will celebrate three milestones in 2025, marking 20 years of operations in Dubai, 15 years in Dublin and a decade since it launched its global corporate and fiduciary services arm Walkers Professional Services.
