Mr Galloway, whose earnings were close to US$1m last year, took a felony tax fraud plea. The sentence is due to be delivered in July. Filings to the court say that the IT law specialist did not submit personal tax forms or pay tax between 2005 and 2010. When he was contacted by the tax authorities, he is said to have insisted that he did file returns but that there had been a typo in his identifying social security number. But when he went on to send in amended returns, those returns contained excessive deductions, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
Resignation
Mr Galloway has resigned from Hughes Hubbard in the last few days and has said that the offence has nothing to do with his work for the law firm. Source: ABA
