Eversheds Sutherland’s international arm has made up 25 partners, in a round dominated by corporate finance and litigation.

The round is in line with last year, when 23 made the grade, though significantly smaller than 2024’s 40-strong cohort. At 40%, the proportion of women making the grade is down from the previous four years, when women were in the majority.

Keith Froud, chief executive of Eversheds Sutherland (International), highlighted the “exceptional talent” reflected in the promotions, adding: “Together, they reinforce our position as a firm that is powerful globally, strong locally, delivering seamless support to clients wherever they operate.”

Like last year, the majority – 16 – of this year’s cohort are based in the firm’s UK offices, including three in London, where the firm recently hired Ruth Hoy, the managing partner of DLA Piper’s London office, as it moved to deepen its IP litigation bench.

There were also five promotions across its continental European network in Lisbon, Munich, Rotterdam and Sofia, and four in the Middle East in Riyadh and Dubai, where the firm also boosted its banking and finance offering late last year with a twin hire from King & Spalding

In terms of practice areas, seven of the new recruits to the partnership are corporate finance specialists and six form part of the litigation and dispute management team. Five are in employment, labour and pensions, four work in the commercial advisory team, and three are real estate lawyers.

The promotions come into effect on 1 May.

These are the first set of promotions overseen by Froud, who took over as CEO of the transatlantic firm’s London-based international business last May from Lee Ranson, having been managing partner.

Last year, revenue at Eversheds Sutherland International edged up by 3% to £768.7m against a 6% rise in net profit to just under £186m. Profit per equity partner also rose by 8%, to £1.4m.

In December, Eversheds Sutherland (US) announced the promotion of six attorneys to partner, which took effect on 1 January.
