Girlfriend found guilty of killing lawyer with his gun

A Kentucky juror has found 24-year old Shayna Huber guilty of the murder of Cincinnati lawyer Ryan Poston two years ago as he prepared for a date with a local beauty queen.

The murdered lawyer studied in Geneva Shchipkova Elena

Mr Poston, 29, practised in Cincinatti, having studied at the Geneva International School in Switzerland and at Northern Kentucky University. He was, according to his obituary, 'following in a strong family tradition of service to the law'. His family issued a statement after the verdict, in which they spoke of him seeking justice 'for his clients everyday'.  Ms Hubers had rung the emergency services after she killed him, saying that she had shot him six times in his house. The gun used was his own. The couple had been involved for some 18 months, and she claimed that he had abused her physically and verbally that evening. They had argued that evening in particular because he was about to go out on a date with a local beauty queen who carried the title Miss Ohio. He had told family members that he wanted to end the relationship with Ms Hubers.

Jury decision

The jury decided Ms Hubers was guilty of murder, not the other options presented to them - first degree manslaughter, second degree manslaughter and reckless homicide. The jury took five hours to reach its decision. Sources: ABA and DME Funeral Homes
