Squire Patton Boggs (SPB) has strengthened its restructuring and insolvency practice with the hire of Oksana Lashko from Morrison Foerster in New York.

Lashko joins as a partner and national co-chair of the firm’s creditors’ committee practice, bringing experience representing official and ad hoc creditors’ committees, secured and unsecured creditors, institutional lenders and other parties in Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings and cross-border insolvencies.

Her practice covers liability management transactions, debtor-in-possession and exit financings, section 363 sales, plan negotiations and bankruptcy litigation.

She has advised official committees of unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 cases involving companies including Del Monte Foods, Saks Global, Accuride, Instant Brands, Briggs & Stratton and Ravn Air.

Lashko began her career in New York, with stints at Morgan Lewis and Paul Weiss, where she was an associate in its restructuring practice. She moved to Brown Rudnick as a partner in 2020 and, after two years there, joined DLA Piper’s New York restructuring practice as a partner in April 2022, before her move to MoFo in 2024.

Stephen Lerner, global chair of SPB’s restructuring and insolvency practice, said: “Oksana is another excellent addition to our growing global team and enhances the depth of experience and sophisticated market perspective across a range of industries that dovetail with our global practice.”

He added: “Her arrival strengthens our capabilities in New York and further increases our ability to deliver coordinated, cross-border advice to clients navigating complex financial and operational challenges. We are delighted to welcome her to the firm.”

Lashko said she had been attracted by the opportunity to help develop the firm’s creditors’ committee offering, adding that SPB’s “international reach, deep restructuring capabilities and ability to bring together cross-disciplinary teams provide a powerful platform for representing creditors and other stakeholders in facing increasingly complex domestic and cross-border challenges”.

She added: “I look forward to working with colleagues across the global practice to build on its strong momentum.”

The appointment follows a series of investments in SPB’s restructuring practice. Katherine Catanese joined in New York from Foley & Lardner, where she was vice chair of its bankruptcy and restructuring practice.

Her arrival follows changes in the firm’s US management team, and subsequent office leadership refresh, both there and in the UK.

In the UK, Chris Roberts joined the Manchester office from DLA Piper, having led its restructuring and insolvency team across the North West, while Deborah Brown moved to Birmingham from DLA Piper, where she led its Midlands restructuring and insolvency team.

In February, the firm promoted 20 lawyers to partner globally, up from 17 the previous year, alongside UK lateral hires Gemma Hanley from Eversheds Sutherland and Matthew Harris from Gowling WLG.

It subsequently added former Spanish state attorney Lorena Fatás Pérez as a litigation partner in Madrid.
