Summer law school cohort described as less able

The president of the National Conference of Bar Examiners has described the students who sat the July Multistate Bar Exam as being 'less able' than those who sat it in 2013.

Erica Moeser was concerned enough about the results that she had them checked but she concluded ‘The results are correct’. And she wrote in a memo: ‘All point to the fact that the group that sat in July 2014 was less able than the group that sat in July 2013.’

Evidence

Dean Nicholas Allard of Brooklyn Law School disagrees, saying ‘we do have evidence about our own 2014 graduates, and it tells us precisely the opposite: their credentials were every bit as good as our 2013 graduates, if not even better.’ He is concerned at the effect of her comments on this year’s group. He wrote in a letter to her: ‘Given how this exam affects the lives and careers of tens of thousands of graduates, you can do better and provide both the deans and graduates a more thorough review.’ Source: ABA
