The change would see at least 80 per cent of a law school’s graduates required to pass the bar within two years of graduation – compared to the current regime which requires 75 per cent pass within five years, the National Law Journal reports.
Confusing rules
Graduates would have at least five opportunities to take the exam which would help law schools with the quota. The current rules have been seen as confusing and the Department of Education has called for clarity. The rules will be discussed at the July meeting of the ABA committee reviewing law school accreditation standards.
