The Bank of England has paid £2.6 million in legal fees for an investigation into currency manipulation Kiev.Victor

London law firm Travers Smith has charged The Bank of England £2.2 million for investigating what bank employees knew about manipulation in the foreign-exchange market. Leading Queen's Counsel Anthony Grabiner QC billed  a further £400,000  for his work. A letter from Anthony Habgood at the Bank said that at least 14 lawyers, assisted by specialist firms, worked on the investigation, which ran from March to November. They searched 1.8 million documents and 87,000 telephone calls, and reviewed almost 73,000 pieces of evidence drawn from them. The letter was written in response to a parliamentary committee which was not satisfied with Lord Grabiner's evidence when he said he did not know his rates as barristers did not get into the 'grubby' world of negotiating fees.
