Criminal, fraud and professional discipline set 2BR has appointed Faye Stimpson as its first female senior clerk, succeeding Paul Rodgers in the role.

Stimpson will join the set later this year from QEB Hollis Whiteman, where she has been for 22 years, having previously served as its first junior clerk.

Stimpson brings a strong background in clerking and managing members across serious crime, including white-collar crime, general crime, sports law and professional regulation and discipline.

Writing on LinkedIn for International Women’s Day, Stimpson said: “As a female clerk who has worked in the industry for over 20 years, there are many experiences unique to women that I have confronted and continue to address. Being seen to break down barriers by acting in a manner that is the antithesis of the behaviour of the ‘old guard’ has been my starting point.

“Building from there, I have sought to create a culture of empathy, openness and encouragement. To support a continued shift in this direction, we need to focus on education, communication, teamwork and transparency.”

Her former set paid tribute to Stimpson, saying: “Faye has been an incredible member of our clerking team for 22 years and has helped shape our profile and success. We will miss her very much but wish her every success in this new and exciting phase of her career.”

Rodgers, meanwhile, departed the set in February after nearly 30 years’ service. He succeeded John Grimmer as senior clerk in January last year, after Grimmer’s 40-year tenure as the set’s senior clerk.

Graham Briggs, who took Rodgers’ former role as deputy senior clerk in January 2025 and has been filling in since Rodgers’ exit in February, will retain the deputy position following Stimpson’s arrival in the autumn.

The set thanked Briggs “for his exceptional work in leading the clerks’ room over the last six months during the recruitment process, as well as to our outstanding practice lead clerks, Lee Bartlett and Joe Martin, and our team of fantastic diary and junior clerks, who have continued to deliver an outstanding service during this period”.

The set’s joint heads of chambers, Brian Altman KC and Christine Agnew KC, said: “We are thrilled that Faye will be joining us as our new senior clerk. She is a first-class addition to our already excellent clerks’ room.

“This is a really exciting time for chambers, with our new premises, a series of recent top-level recruits and now a hugely talented and experienced new senior clerk to help ensure that we continue to provide the level of quality and service that our members and clients expect and deserve.”

The set currently has 24 silks and 67 junior tenants, with Rhian Wood joining from 4KBW this week.

Stimpson’s scheduled arrival at 2BR follows a number of recent senior clerking appointments in London. Last month, Fountain Court said Sian Huckett will take over as the set’s first female senior clerk from January, while Lucy Burrows was appointed to clerk Duxton Hill Chamber’s London chambers alongside Sam Biggerstaff earlier this year. Brick Court Chambers also recruited Katie Szewczyk from Fountain Court last year as deputy senior clerk
