Lawyers and police have clashed in violent outbursts in two Indian cities following two separate incidents in the country.

India: police crackdown on protesting lawyers

Police in Chandigarh fired water cannons at lawyers who were protesting in front of the Punjab governor's house in response to a complaint lodged with the police which claimed lawyers attacked a policeman last month.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court lawyers demanded the First Information Report (FIR) be cancelled, but authorities maintain that document - which sets the process of criminal justice in motion – will not be cancelled, reports IBN Live.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has not seen any work for the past two days as the lawyers have refused to work till the FIR is cancelled.

Teargas

Meanwhile, in Jaipur police fired teargas shells at lawyers demanding better pay and cheaper homes.
The incident occurred outside the Rajasthan Assembly as lawyers were protesting. The Rajasthan Bar Association has called an indefinite strike, while 30 lawyers were reportedly injured in the clash.
