Osborne Clarke has promoted six lawyers to partner in its latest UK promotions round across practice areas including disputes, corporate and banking and finance.
The round represents a decrease on last year, when 10 lawyers made partner but matches it in terms of the proportion of women, at 50%.
“This year’s promotions reflect the breadth of talent across our firm, with new partners in all of our UK offices in London, Bristol and Reading, many of whom started with us as trainees,” said Conrad Davies, UK managing partner. “Each one of them thoroughly deserves this recognition.”
Two of those promoted are based in London – employment lawyer Lara Fatemi, who specialises in advising private equity houses and their portfolios, and Keir Pimblett, who focuses on defence, aerospace, technology and decarbonisation projects.
There were also three promotions in Bristol, where dispute resolution specialist Sebastian Bottard moved up alongside commercial litigator Becky Crawford and M&A and PE transactions lawyer James Mackay.
The final promotion went to Laura Hanley in Reading. She advises lenders, borrowers and financial sponsors on cross-border mid-market debt financing transactions.
Lara Burch, who took over as senior partner of the firm’s UK LLP at the start of the year, added: “Our newly promoted partners play a key role in supporting clients in some of our most dynamic sectors, and I’m delighted to see their contribution recognised as we continue to grow our presence across the UK.”
Last year, Osborne Clarke’s UK turnover increased by 7% to £256.6m, with profit per equity partner in the UK breaking the £800k threshold for the first time. That equated to five-year revenue growth of more than 160%, with its international business also expanding 72% over the same period.
The firm boosted its London competition practice in February with the hire of partner Miguel Perez Guerra from drinks giant AB InBev, where he was director and head of antitrust, IP and commercial law. Last year, it hired private funds partner Robert Eke in London from Squire Patton Boggs.
