The Legal Times reports that Richard Brunell -- AAI's legal advocacy director and head of its amicus programme -- will join the US trade watchdog as senior adviser for competition matters, while AII advisory board member Andrew Gavil will become the director of the commission’s office of policy planning. They will take their positions on 4 September.

AII president Bert Foer said the two lawyers have ‘a tremendous amount of talent’. He added that ‘the FTC is picking up two dynamite antitrust lawyers’.
Mr Gavil said the office of policy planning has ‘a well-established track record for making valuable contributions to agency and public debate on the competition issues that affect the American consumer.’
AAI senior counsel and director of special projects Randy Stutz will succeed Mr Brunell as the organisation's legal advocacy director and head of its amicus programme. Sandeep Vaheesan, currently an associate at Houston-based law firm Vinson & Elkins, will also join the AAI as a special counsel.
