Apple slammed for 'inaccurate' Samsung statement

Californian technology Goliath, Apple, has been slapped on the wrist by the UK Appeal Court after a statement on its web site conceding a design infringement verdict to long-time rival Samsung was deemed 'non-compliant'.

London's Royal Courts of Justice

Apple had been ordered to put an acknowledgement on its web site following an October ruling that Samsung did not infringe Apple’s iPad design, but the Californians were found to have tucked the verdict away on a linked page, reports The Guardian newspaper.

Simple wording

The judges, Lord Justice Longmore, Lord Justice Kitchin and Sir Robin Jacob, also indicated they were not pleased with Apple's failure to put a simpler statement on the site, and gave Apple 48 hours to alter the wording – which must stay on the site until 14 December. Apple’s request for 14 days to make the changes was rejected.
The news agency Bloomberg reports that Judge Jacob said: ‘I’m at a loss that a company such as Apple would do this. That is a plain breach of the order.’
Apple’s lawyer, Michael Beloff, said that the notice ‘is not designed to punish, it is not designed to makes us grovel. The only purpose is to dispel commercial uncertainty.’
