Squire Sanders sets up Saudi women's practice

Squire Sanders has set up a Women's Practice in its Riyadh office following recent moves to allow women to practice law in the country.

Banking and regulatory specialist Dr Nadia Al-Anani  joins the firm as a senior associate and will run the new office which is located next to the firm’s main premises. She will also lead the firm’s women lawyers section in Riyadh and play a key role  in supporting its expansion across the Middle East and Africa. Dr Al-Anani  the firm from the Saudi-based Hani Qurashi Law firm which is linked with  Kilpatrick Townsend.

Partner Kevin Connor, Squire Sander’s head of the region said in a statement: ’We’ve been at the forefront of championing and developing female lawyers and female and family business in the Kingdom.' He added that he was  'delighted that just as we are opening our new facilities in Riyadh we can welcome Dr Nadia Al-Anani to the firm.’

The new facilities for female lawyers has seen the firm creatre a separate, stand-alone office with its own entrance, reception, meeting rooms and lawyers’ desks, adjacent to the firm’s existing premises. 
Last October the government passed a directive allowing women to obtain a license to practice law.
